Hock Tee Tan was born in Malaysia and studied Fine Art at Nanyang Academy of Fine Art in Singapore.

He moved to London in 1976 and has been working as a Fine Artist ever since.

He uses oil pastels, chinese ink and gold and silver leaf for his artworks.

He draws from live models and captures not only their shape in a few well placed strokes, but also demonstrates an emotionality within his portrays, mostly of women.

His work is highly skilled, but also beautifully elegant. He frames everything himself and is a perfectionist in presentation.

He is inspired foremost by Modigliani and is constantly seeking to push the boundaries of contemporary figurative painting.
